“To fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality”
LOCATED IN THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY HALL OF HONOR AND THE HILTON UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON HOTEL LOBBY
Welcome to the “virtual” version of the Hilton Legacy Exhibit, currently installed in the Hospitality Industry Hall of Honor Gallery and Hilton University of Houston lobby. The exhibit commemorates the Hilton legacy and its century-long influence on the industry.
The exhibit opened on October 21, 2015, when President and CEO of Hilton Worldwide, Christopher J. Nassetta was inducted into the Hospitality Industry Hall of Honor at the University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management. Nassetta was honored for the lasting and profound impact he has had on the hospitality industry and one of the world’s most recognizable hotel brands. In his current role, Nassetta oversees all 12 brands of Hilton Worldwide, comprised of more than 4,400 hotels, resorts and timeshare properties in 97 countries and territories.
The Hospitality Industry Hall of Honor, celebrating its 20th anniversary, was created to recognize industry leaders who have made extraordinary contributions to American and international business and society. Each year, a team of student managers plans and executes an induction ceremony, dinner and reception for the latest honoree. Nassetta is the Hall of Honor’s 67th inductee.
Proceeds from this year’s event will support Hilton College’s Hospitality Without Borders Endowment, which will provide life-changing opportunities for young people pursuing careers in hospitality.
The Hilton Legacy Exhibit was designed, produced and created by Arnowitz Creative Agency, Sausalito California. CEO Burt Arnowitz was senior project designer and producer of the year-long project. Mark Dodd and Dodd Technologies, Pendleton, Indiana, custom-designed, fabricated and installed all of the exhibit displays. Both Dodd and Arnowitz companies made significant contributions to the Hospitality Without Borders Endowment.
For nearly a century, the Hilton name has been synonymous with travel. Much more than a collection of impressive buildings, Hilton is a business of people serving people. This exhibit reveals how Hilton reaches far beyond the business of hospitality, creating memorable experiences for millions of guests every day and impacting thousands of local communities around the world.
Conrad Hilton’s drive and business acumen catapulted the company’s rise to the top, but it was his passion for serving people that cemented his legacy. That legacy lives on today, in his own words and serves as the company’s vision: “It has been, and continues to be, our responsibility to fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality.”
